English vocalist Lisa Stansfield was born in 1966 and came to attention as the voice on the mighty dance track "People Hold On" by Coldcut in 1989. While her 1st solo releases were issued in the early 1980s, they failed to chart. As that decade neared its conclusion, her career was given a boost with the Coldcut association, leading to global success as a soloist.
"All Around The World" reached #1 in Britain and some European countries in 1989. That single also topped the US R&B and Dance charts and made #3 Pop. "Live Together", "Time To Make You Mine" and "Set Your Loving Free" were among the follow-up hits. She collaborated with Babyface in 1994, Barry White in 1999 and Kool & The Gang in 2004.
This century has seen Stansfield branch out as an actress in films and television. In 2013, she issued a new album entitled 'Seven'.
